Overview of The Tennis Academy

The start of something special…

Merchiston, St George's & Tennis Scotland have developed a programme which will ensure that pupils can combine an excellent education with unrivalled opportunities within the tennis profession, including expert coaching and aspects of fitness and sports science.  With a minimum of three sessions per week, the expectations placed on members of the Tennis Academy by the schools and the coaches will be very high.

There will be many advantages for the students of the Tennis Academy: they will be training and studying in one place, saving much travel time, and will have players of similar high standards to train with. Equally, they will be able to enjoy school life to the full, being educated, doing other activities and building friendships with others in the school which would be normally be more difficult as they are excluded for their tennis so often. Experience is that life in a boarding school is the best way for those who excel in individual sports to maintain the balance between enjoying a normal childhood, and striving to be the best they can be at their sport.

Both Merchiston and St George's will support the students fully in all aspects of their life.
